To mark World Health Day 2026, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) unites with the World Health Organization (WHO) to mobilize the world under the theme “Together for health. Stand with science”. Two key events are being held to mark the day: the international One Health Summit and the Global Forum of WHO Collaborating Centres. Both events will take place in Lyon, France, and IARC will host meetings in its building as part of each of these.
Science serves everyone, everywhere, and powers health – including the One Health approach, which incorporates human, animal, plant, ecosystem, and planetary health. To promote these messages, IARC and WHO call on governments, scientists, health workers, partners, and the public to stand with science to protect lives, rebuild trust, and secure a healthier future.
The year‑long “Together for health. Stand with science” campaign spotlights both scientific achievements and the multilateral cooperation needed to turn evidence into action. It celebrates the power of scientific collaboration to protect the health of people, animals, plants, and the planet.
